Sowed Up Farms was created from a deep commitment to community, food access, and land stewardship in Chicago.

Founded by Chamika, with the support of family, Sowed Up Farms is rooted in the belief that urban spaces can nourish families, restore the environment, and strengthen neighborhoods. Through thoughtful growing practices and meaningful partnerships, our work centers sustainability, culture, and connection.













Our Story
About the Grower
Chamika is an urban agriculturalist, community educator, and the visionary behind Sowed Up Farms.

She has devoted her career to building thriving agricultural spaces in city environments while promoting environmental responsibility and community wellness. Chamika also serves as the Development Director for the Austin Garden Collective, helping manage greenspaces, programs, and community engagement across Chicago’s West Side.
​
Her work includes hands-on farming, policy awareness, program development, and mentorship — always centered around access, equity, and education.
